Hum..... does your food pyramid look like this? Most likely not- more than likely you follow the FDA approved JOKE of a food pyramid that calls for over half of your diet to consist of grains, ie. crap.

Homework: Next time you go grocery shopping do 90% of your shopping around the perimeter!
Things that can be bought in the isles would be: coconut milk, coffee, any oils, olives, canned tomato, spices
Now: when you check labels here is the scoop:
Do NOT even read the numbers, READ the INGREDIENTS.

Um..... news check: FAT FREE, SUGAR FREE, CARB FREE Bullsh*t they like to advertise means that its jam-packed with artificial and processed poison.....now do want to buy them?!
Can you pronounce them all and do you know EXACTLY what they all are? Yes? Then you can buy it!

Sweet potatoes can be adopted with paleo, just not as a main staple. But they can be used! I use them a few times a month
Sweet Potatoes are a great recovery food to add in a once or twice a month. But like Jackie said, don't make it a main staple of your diet.
