Happy Veterans Day!

Army Staff Sgt. Jack M. Martin III, 26, of Bethany, Oklahoma, assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Fort Lewis, Wash., died September 29th, 2009, in Jolo Island, Philippines, from the detonation of an improvised explosive device. Martin is survived by his wife Ashley Martin, his parents Jack and Cheryl Martin, and siblings Abe, Mandi, Amber and Abi.

I always find my blessing bittersweet.  This man died on the same island I(Coach Drew) once deployed to only months before that horrible day.  We hadn't lost a single US service member during my time in southern Philippines so this definitely was hard as I along with a few others were responsible for medical/trauma care to our troops deployed in that AO.  Let us give thanks this weekend to all our veterans, those here and gone.  "We are the land of the free because of the brave"
