Often we feel discouraged and sometimes we want to quit. Then we remember that a successful person never tasted success by quitting. Through hard work, dedication, sweat, blood, and pain we rise!!!!!
We all have a starting point.
What is yours? What changes have you seen already? Maybe you can lift 5 more lbs, maybe you are able to do one more pull up in a row, maybe you can run longer without stopping.....
No matter how little or big the change is, there is change.....think....and then post it to the blog!
During my intro class, I thought I'd die after 30 situps...after Angie...I know that doing 100 won't kill me.
ReplyDeleteAt my old gym I used to always quit in the middle of WOD's...always an excuse...i'm too tired, no energy,...it was always something. When I joined CFU that changed. I have finished every WOD since I joined...that makes me proud. Some WOD's I do really well, some not so well...I have learned not to compare myself to others, but to be proud of what I accomplished that day. I am reaping the rewards of that consistancy now...I am stronger and feel better everyday...it just keeps getting better:)
ReplyDeleteI was shocked the last time we did weighted pull-ups and I did a pull-up with no band!
ReplyDeleteI made a decision not to quit, to never give up, no matter how hard a WOD may be and its paid off. Like Jackie said, no one ever succeed by quitting.
ReplyDeleteI started in the garage gym using the green band and box ;) to do pullups. Now, I am able to do strict and kipping pullups. Even after having reconstructive surgery in Apr. to repair a torn ligament in my right thumb. I've also lost cut my dress sizes in half and increase my deadlift by almost 100lbs.
My biggest change was falling in love with CrossFit. It started as a way to lose weight but grew into much more. Now I take pride in being able to motivate and inspire BAMFs ;) as a coach at CFU.
It is my strength and endurance. I started using bands, progressing thru all the colors, eventually not needing any bands to RX'ing more and more WOD's. As for endurance, I have been running for 10+ years and in the last 9 months I have gotten faster and faster (maybe its Jackie's voice saying "dont stop, I can see you".
ReplyDeleteNow I have people ask me all the time, what to do you stay in shape.....I usually say "I work really hard!" then I explain all about Crossfit and how it has changed me.
Since starting CFU in May, I have lost weight, inches, pants size and an "I can't " attitude and I have gained strength, endurance, confidence and great CFU friends! I'm hooked :)
ReplyDeleteThe major change I've experienced since joining CFU is my level of motivation. I've always been one of those people who work out until it gets uncomfortable & then stop. Now, not only do I push through the pain, but I find that I want to go to the box as often as possible & try harder to improve each time (although that comes with frustration frequently). I'm excited to keep pushing & reach the point where I can Rx the WODs.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest change I've noticed is my ability to push through a workout that I would otherwise stop before finishing...That is purely from the kick ass motivation and encouragement from everyone in the CFU family...mostly our BAMF coaches!!! I know where I want to be and I know CrossFit will get me there. I just have to stay focused and motivated.
ReplyDeleteMy starting point was at KSC garage gym. I have never worked out harder in my life. The first FGB I thought I was going to die. But I just kept coming back WOD after WOD enduring the suck and eventually became addicted to CrossFit. Some changes I have seen at CFU are my strength and endurance. I can lift 200lbs off the floor never thought I could do that, and I can run with a fractured foot with little to no pain at times. After having surgery in May I have been able to jump back and continue to improve every day. Thank you Jackie for allowing me to see that I can do anything I put my mind to, no matter if I think it’s out of reach.
ReplyDelete~ Lauren
So, in 2008 I had a baby. Eight months later I was diagnosed with MS. Multiple sclerosis is progressive, debilitaing and there is no cure. What to do? Exist, feel sorry for myself, wait for the inevitable? Yep, at least for a while anyways. Almost three years later I have decided that there is no value in weakness, no honor in self pity, no future in resignation. So I have gotten off the path of least resistance!!!! Last week I picked up 215 lbs because someone believed I could and should. Its not always going to be pretty and I won't always be successful. But what a great community to be in to show up and give it all I have.

First I want to say: Jill, your story is amazing and inspiring. You are the kind of person I look up to... and hope one day I can be half the woman you are.
ReplyDeleteBesides the physical change I've noticed I feel better in general. Also it's never mundane or boring and I know it will never be. I love the fact that it is always challenging, and I know I will continue it as long as I can, because I've thrown up and came back to finish the dang WOD!
The people are amazing with big hearts and they humble me with their determination and pure BAMFness!
